Abstract

This book focuses on the recent advances in our understanding of solarconvection and activity, and on new methods and results of helioseismicdiagnostics of the internal structures and dynamics of solar convectionand active regions. The methods of local helioseismology (time-distancetomography, ring-diagram analysis, acoustic imaging, and holography)intensively developed in the past few years have provided promisingresults on the deep structure of large-scale convection and flows, emerging active regions, and sunspots. The book includes reviewsand contributed papers presented at the SOHO-9 Workshop held on July12-15, 1999, at Stanford University, California, U.S.A. It providesa comprehensive overview of the current status of the field and presentsnew ideas and approaches to helioseismic diagnostics and theoreticalmodeling of the physical processes inside the Sun. The book is recommendedfor graduate students and specialists in solar physics, astrophysics, and geophysics. Link: http://www.wkap.nl/book.htm/0-7923-6520-8
