Abstract

The number of benign medical and surgical diseases increases with age. Constipation, volvulus, rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, ischemic colitis, and diverticulitis increase in incidence with aging. Early diagnosis and treatment need to be altered according to the patients' medical risk.
