Animal trafficking is a threat to biodiversity. Nearly 82% of the smuggled animals are birds. The aim of this work is to elaborate a list of the bird species trafficked in Brazil, evidencing endangered species. Web of Science and Google Scholar databases were used to search for articles. We found 45 publications and 343 species of birds from the animal trade. The order with greater richness is Passeriformes, followed by Psittaciformes. Thraupidae family showed expressive. 29 species have some threat level: six critically endangered, five endangered and 18 vulnerable. Establishing priority actions to reduce the impact of illegal activity on these species should be prioritized. Species identification should be done with caution, specific programs for endangered species destination must be established, and genetic and stable isotopic methodologies should be used as a tool to enforce wildlife trafficking. Environmental education and tougher penalties are also recommended.
