Abstract

The place of ion beam therapy (IBT) in the clinic has evolved amid a dynamic environment of advancements on several fronts: tumor biology, diagnostic imaging, surgical and medical oncology, and radiotherapy treatment planning and delivery. This chapter will present generalized themes of the current place of IBT and current areas of investigation.
