Abstract

This lesson will build on the previous lesson which introduced the hydrological cycle and water movement through soil and the vadose zone. In this lecture we will introduce a water budget concept in the context of groundwater and surface water. At the end of this lesson you should be able to: • Explain precipitation, evaporation, transpiration and the compartment model. • Discuss the concept of changes in storage for surface water and groundwater basins • Explain how stream flow and groundwater levels are measured to asses change in storage over time GL6020 Hydrogeology, Contaminated Land and Assessment
