Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the role of electronic storytelling in improving students’ speaking skills, as well as their motivational level of learning English as a foreign language. The research questions are: What is the role of digital storytelling in improving students’ speaking skills? Does utilizing digital storytelling improve learners’ motivational level of acquiring English as a foreign language? The participants of the study were 49 Junior High School students, boys and, girls from an Arabic-speaking town in northern Israel. The participants were from two tenth-grades (10 A, and 10 B). Grade 10 A has 11 boys and 12 girls. Whereas, 10B has 12 boys and 14 girls. Based on the findings of the current study, it can be concluded that digital storytelling is a useful pedagogical tool. It is very effective in helping teachers in guiding pupils to increase their speaking skills, as well as to increase pupils' desire of learning English as a foreign language.
