Abstract

An increased usage of projects can be observed in all fields, being away of adapting current activities to the challenges of the economicreality. One of the most important characteristics of projects is theorientation towards objectives' achievement, which contributes to thelong term development of an organization and to obtaining competitiveadvantage on the market. But, in order to maximize the benefits of usingprojects as means of organizing the activity, a special attention shouldbe given to aspects that can influence project success. We considerproject governance as being essential to project success and having apositive influence on the development of the organization. The increasedfrequency and importance of projects nowadays determined a significantfocus on projects' governance and its relation with corporategovernance. The steering group, the project owner and project managerare key roles influencing project governance. The objective of thispaper is to analyse the opinions of project managers regarding theapplication of project governance principles when dealing with ITprojects, based on structured interviews.
