Abstract

We are developing an application for the insurance business in Java and started to use JUnit for testing our application. But soon after, we discovered several areas which were hard to test. These areas were mainly on the edge of our application like interfaces to presentation, printing and legacy systems. In order to cover these parts with tests we developed a framework by extending JUnit. It allows us to test servlets and JSP, struts [1], XSLFO [2] and FOP [3]. In addition we enabled the business people to write and run functional tests by themselves. In this presentation we report from our findings developing and using this framework. We believe that most business application developers face the same challenges and might therefore benefit from our report. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2003.
