Abstract

Basketball was first created in 1891 by Springfield College (Springfield, MA) instructor and graduate student James Naismith. By 1905, basketball was officially recognized as a permanent winter sport. Basketball involves jumping, landing, pivoting, cutting, forwards and backward running with acceleration, decelerations, and frequent changes in directions [1].
