Abstract

Sterile supply is now being recognised as involving a total supply of sterile goods, materials, apparatus and instruments, and a commitment to clean, disinfect and service as well. There are seen to be 5 major responsibilities: bulk supply of simple, largely disposable, ward dressing packs, supply of theatre linen and soft goods, supply of theatre instruments, disinfection of heat sensitive apparatus and materials and cleaning, disinfection, and sterilisation of bulky apparatus.
