Abstract

The history of aesthetic breast surgery extends back to 1895 when 1848 when breast reduction was first attempted. In 1854 breast lift was performed, and both breast reduction and mastopexy followed with many modifications of the techniques. In 1895 enlargement of the breasts was first performed. The development of breast augmentation went through phases of different foreign objects that were inserted and various fluids that were injected. Finally, the silicone implant was introduced, and even this has gone through many modifications. The author describes the development of the various aesthetic procedures of the breast.
