Based on the documents of the Administration's General Archive, the article studies the rules dictated by the Popular Education Department in 1942 aimed at the control and censure all aspects of musical activity: musical societies, concerts, conferences, recordings, editions, music on the radio and musicians. It analyzes the criteria followed by the practice of censorship in the political frame in that period and it points out the possible influences by the most fundamentalist catholic trends and the germanophilia of the Department itself. Finally, some questions are asked up about the impact of the above extremes regarding "cult" and popular music.
