Abstract

An electrochemical biosensor based on CRISPR‐Cas12a (cpf1), termed E‐CRISPR, is reported by Y. Dai, A. I. Caplan, C. C. Liu et al. in their Research Article on page 17399 ff. The recognition and the following cleavage activities of CRISPR‐Cas12a make CRISPR itself an integrated sensing and actuating system. Transducing the CRISPR activity through electrochemistry delivers an electrochemical biosensor for the detection of nucleic acids and proteins.
