Abstract

This chapter describes modeling activities designed for technology-enhanced mathematics teacher education courses aimed at the development of grade-appropriate mathematical concepts. Conceptualized in terms of isomorphism, these activities deal with various problem-solving topics in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and discrete mathematics. The chapter is based on work done with prospective K-12 teachers and it includes their reflections on the use of technology in modeling. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media B.V.
