The assurance of required safety integrity level in the field of railway signalling is essential. The most commonly used verification, validation and testing methods are not exhaustive and can miss errors. This paper describes an alternative verification technique based on the TTCN-3 (Testing and Test Control Notation). The TTCN-3 is an internationally standardized testing language for formal defining of test scenarios and their implementation. © 2010 Springer-Verlag.
