Abstract

We have been investigating biomagnetic field measurements using magnetoresistive (MR) device-based flux sensors since 2014. The MR device is based on the same technology as the magnetic heads of hard disk drives and provides a compact, affordable, and cryogen-free biomagnetic measurement system. The sensitivity of the sensor is expanded by a flux concentrator made of high-permeability material, and the magnetic field resolution of the sensor is several picotesla at 1 Hz. Magnetocardiographic signals and signals from neural activities were successfully obtained using sensor arrays composed of MR device-based flux sensors.
