Abstract

This paper presents, treatment of solid waste leach\rate by Electrocoagulation (EC) technique using alum\rinum electrodes. The sample \rof leachate was collected from Bagalkot Municipal s\rolid waste (MSW) site. The effects of process varia\rbles such as pH, applied cell \rvoltage, and operating time were investigated on CO\rD and turbidity removal. The EC process was carried\r out in a batch reactor of \r1 liter capacity and samples of 750 ml were taken o\rut for batch at 05, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 m\rinutes of operation. Results \robtained from the experiments showed that COD and t\rurbidity removal was strongly influenced by the ini\rtial pH. The highest COD \rand turbidity removal efficiency of 95.8% and 96.6%\r were obtained at an applied cell voltage of for 9V\r, 40 minutes of
