Abstract

This paper is an attempt to build and validate 3 complementary scales of school motivation and to examine their factorial structures. A causal path model was used to attest to the construct validity of the 3 scales for adolescents. The model of motivation used is based on a sociocognitive point of view, and sees motivation as a complex entity made up of perceptions of the self, cognitive analyses of the learning context, and relational and affective components.
