Abstract

Hernia recurrence used to be the main outcome measurement when reporting on the results of inguinal hernia surgery. Today the problem of recurrence is limited as a result of standardised mesh techniques. A recurrence does not always result in a problem for the patient, and if it does, it can usually be resolved after a new repair. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
