Abstract

The aim of this article is to discuss the type of relationship that takes place in atypical siblings where one of its members is confronted with intellectual deficiency. Two case studies were suggested based on the results of a past experiment where the specificities in the relationships between the handicapped child and his brother or sister were established. The processes of parentalization and/or parentification which may appear in those siblings can be defined and illustrated from these studies. In this article a bridge between Research and clinical practice is suggested by the mention of potential leads with familial systems confronted to intellectual deficiency from one of their members. © Médecine & Hygiène.
