The recent economic downturn\rhas affected both businesses\rand educational organizations.\rFunding for higher education\rinstitutions from federal, state,\rand private sectors is shrinking\rand even disappearing\raltogether. Higher education\rinstitutions have faced\runprecedented budget cuts,\rwith more expected. Libraries\rneed to think of alternative\rmethods for acquiring the funds\rneeded to enhance library\rservices. Fortunately, grants\roffer a way to help libraries\raccomplish this goal. In this\rarticle, I will share our success\rstory concerning how the\rLawrence V. Johnson Library at\rSouthern Polytechnic State\rUniversity received a grant to\rfund our web‐scale discovery\rservice.
