The authors present insights on the association of preeclampsia with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), body mass index and blood pressure during childhood and adult life. They note that individuals who were born with IUGR are prone to have high blood pressure later in life. They also cite that the main causes of IUGR are the improper modification of the spiral arteries and resulting increased placental resistance.
