Abstract

User’s privacy management in an environment with many restrictions such as the Internet of Things is a challenge. This paper aims at showing that it is possible to handle the user’s privacy in a distributed environment and let the user control the data. In order to do so, a case study was implemented using the dojot platform to validate the user control over the data based on an interface implemented in the Central Server of the IoT environment created, and the approach is valid to other IoT systems. The performance test showed minimum impact, adding an interface to apply rules based on user’s preferences. Thus, the approach was a viable solution to manage privacy in the IoT environment and increase privacy awareness.
