Abstract

To eliminate the problems with the air sacs in ultrasonic examination of genitals in poultry, the transintestinal ultrasonography was used through cloacal access to the body cavity. In female birds it allowed determination of follicular hierarchy. In addition, transintestinal sonography permitted to perform repeated measurements on the same bird without any effect on egg production or livability as compared to those that were not evaluated by ultrasound. © GSP, India.
