Abstract

An understanding of the electrocatalysis of fuel-cell reactions is central to the development of fuel cells as a commercialproduct. The primary emphasis here will be on low temperature fuel cells PEMFC, AFC, and PAFC but a brief description of thecatalysts/materials used in mid- to high- temperature fuel cells, MCFC and SOFC will also be presented along with a bibliographythat will allow the reader to investigate those topics more fully on their own. The electrocatalysis of fuel-cell reactionsis a prominent area of research for both academics in the university and applied research engineers working in industry.
