This paper is focused on the transfer times in the urban public transport system. For this purpose, the transfer model is established by Boolean matrix. Then the transfer between any two stations is represented by the composition of Boolean matrix. Next, an algorithm based on the squaring algorithm and the dichotomy is proposed to calculate the maximum transfer times. At last, the algorithm is tested by an example. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media.
