Abstract

In this paper, we will try to articulate an interpretation of the nature of violence against women. In my view, two especial ways of violence can be noted: the patriarchal mentality (still strongly rooted in broad sectors of society) and what here is to be called 'the imperialism of the self. We will try to show how they combine and how its interface is a powerful catalyst for gender violence. Furthermore, we will propose and get deeper into an alternative proposal (already made from feminist approaches) that can help neutralize a dynamic in which we are still engaged and that is generating many victims: women and men, either children, adolescents or adults- in the physical, psychological, moral and social grounds: namely, the ethics of care.
