The world of gambling: The national gambling experiences series

Abstract

Addiction has published descriptions of the experiences with gambling in 19 countries world-wide. Most commonly countries have alternated between periods of restriction or prohibition and periods of liberalization and expansion. A large expansion in the late 1980s in many jurisdictions has led to increased focus on the associated harms, addiction, harm minimization and treatment.
