Abstract

First edition Elsie Rockwell's work is an unavoidable reference and one of the most original contributions that have been produced in the Latin American and Caribbean educational field in recent times; The rigor and creativity of her inquiries about the school have inspired those who investigate educational processes from anthropology, sociology, history and psychology. The originality and mastery with which she has constructed an ethnographic view of school cultures incorporating a historical perspective; The key contributions around indigenous education and the role of the rural school in Mexico, teaching work, daily life in school and the diversity of writing practices, are more than enough reasons to gather for the first time 30 works of a work as singular as it is powerful, which summarizes four decades of commitment to research and production of critical knowledge about schools, students, and teachers.
