Abstract

Following a review of present technology for calculating the fire resistance of steel building elements, means for utilizing the results under other conditions of fire severity in order to reduce the number of standard, destructive fire tests required for structural elements and to eliminate the need for in situ fire tests that would be costly as well as impractical, are presented.
