Abstract

Because tumors of the mediastinum make up only a small portion of thoracic oncology and the cases are relatively few, treatment-based outcomes of only a few mediastinal diseases processes have been evaluated by powerful level I data consisting of randomized, controlled trials.1,2 The majority of the data guiding treatment of mediastinal tumors, therefore, come from level II data. © 2006 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.
