Abstract

Food additives are added to food for a variety of different reasons. Additives are often used to color, flavor, preserve or improve texture or nutrition of food. They are generally added at quantities that are no greater than those required for their technical effect. Food additives are regulated differently between countries but must be determined safe regardless of where foods containing them are sold.
