Caudal septal extension grafts

Abstract

Caudal septal extension grafts are cartilage grafts placed at the caudal margin of the nasal septum and function to modify the columella and/or nasal tip position in any of a number of ways. These grafts are differentiated from columellar strut grafts in that they are affixed to the caudal margin of the septum in some manner. The basic surgical technique of caudal septal extension graft placement remains the same regardless of the effect desired. The authors describe the various applications of the technique for changing nasal tip projection, changing nasal tip rotation, lengthening the nose, and increasing nasal tip stability.
