Abstract

Some high demanding services adopt multi-tier architecture for software reusability and flexible scaling. However, existing resource provisioning approaches do not address mainly on the problem of increasing the cloud provider profits in the event of resource contention. This paper introduces a resource management framework to identify the on-demand resources and to resolve the resource contention for multi-tier cloud service in order to increase the cloud provider profits. The performance of the proposed framework is evaluated using a prototype built on a cloud platform. The results showed that the proposed framework outperforms other existing methods and can find the best services’ configurations that can increase the cloud provider profits in a short time which is a significant factor in a large-scale cloud computing environment.
