Abstract

Objectives: This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (diagnostic). The objectives are as follows:. To determine the diagnostic accuracy of a percutaneous image-guided renal core biopsy for detecting renal malignancy in people with small (4 cm or less) renal masses. Secondary objectives To establish the accuracy of biopsy procedure to determine pathologic type of renal cell carcinoma (e.g. papillary, clear cell carcinoma). To establish the accuracy of biopsy procedure to determine cancer grade.
