Abstract
In the paper the architecture of the Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and an innovative access scheme to the cellular system are described. Requirements concerning biomedical applications referring to wireless mobile systems are overviewed. An example of a biomedical application using LTE as a link path is described. © 2010 International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering.
