Abstract

The purpose of Demand Planning is to reduce uncertainty about what will be sold to the customer in the future. Improving forecast accuracy leads to economic benefits such as cost cutting by reducing safety stocks and increasing sales by avoiding stock out situations. The case presented describes a Demand Planning implementation using mySAP SCM at an international company in the process industries. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
