Abstract

This paper aims to review the literature on the topic of Knowledge Management Systems (KMSs) by considering the knowledge management (KM) process as a unit of analysis. The evolution of KM-related literature has highlighted that KMSs have undergone massive changes. A literature gap concerning the lack of theoretical lenses to investigate the process of KMSs adoption emerged. Therefore, a Knowledge Management System Organisation Environment framework was adapted by the Technology Organisation Environment (TOE) framework. This framework represents breeding ground for further research for improving the body of knowledge in the field of KMSs adoption. The formalization in a comprehensive research agenda offers the opportunity to draw a comprehensive framework for improving the body of knowledge in the KMSs field.
