Abstract

The use of environmental energy harvesting to increase the autonomy of wireless sensor networks has recently emerged as a viable option to provide energy replacing batteries. This paper systematically analyzed the various design choices and tradeoffs which are involved in the design of solar energy harvesting modules required to design an efficient solar energy harvesting system. A prototype based on three subsystems, is presented to incorporate the results of this analysis. This prototype is then used to produce experimental results, which supports our findings.
