Abstract

New facets of the development of microstructure in fine-grained soils are presented in the light of work on recent sediments and from projects looking at lime stabilisation of muds and sensitive clays. Particular attention is given to the response of to the microstructure to stress changes with the introduction of the porosity index and to the development of cementation as a major source of bonding strength. -from Author
