Adult learning and education has received more attention and recognition since the dissemination of the concept of lifelong learning, which has now become the major paradigm within educational theory and practice. This is even more so in the context of organizations like Unesco, the European Union and the German Adult Education Association (DVV). There are clear indications that these levels - global, regional and national - and their respective organizations influence each other via policies, programmes, models and even funding procedures. This is exemplified here by looking at processes that have been gaining importance in the last few years as part of the preparation for the coming VI International Conference on Adult Education - VI CONFINTEA.
