Abstract

Star-CCM+ is a new generation CFD solver which has been widely used in fluid mechanics, engineering, aviation, shipbuilding and aerospace. Better application of software requires sufficient level of understanding of what exactly is happening and how. However, there are few researches done on benchmarking work. As such, the assessment work plays a critical role both in the development and the application of Star-CCM+. The aim of this paper is to testify the accuracy of the compressible flow solver in Star-CCM+ by simulating compressible flow in a condition that is inviscid and steady. The paper describes the process of assessment itself and shows that compressible flow solver in Star-CCM+ is capable of simulating steady and inviscid compressible case in high accuracy, results of which is better than that of other CFD software.
