Abstract

The objective of this work is the study of the capabilities that a portable electroencephalography is able to offer for the biometric recognition of people through the implementation of automatic classification and learning algorithms to the acquired electrophysiological brain signals, since it is one of the safest and almost impossible to counterfeit biometric measures that exist to secure systems. To accomplish this purpose, a commercial wireless EEG device is used by focusing in the alpha and beta frequency bands during the performance of different mental tasks using the information about frequency spectrum potentials and the degrees of asymmetry between the two cerebral hemispheres, being able to identify a person among a group of registered users with a high success rate.
