Abstract

I will begin with an overview of spirituality and its relationship to contemplative spirituality. I will then detail an array of “contemplative capacities,? including reflective, emotional, imaginative/creative, ethical, intuitive/mystical, and religious. Next, I will discuss these capacities in relationship to education, with a particular emphasis on “mindfulness education.? Finally, I will critically examine implications of current approaches to contemplative education and possible directions for future research.
