Cherubism is a rare non neoplastic bone lesion characterised by fullness of the cheeks and jaws owing to the symmetric expansive growth within the lower and, sometimes also, upper jaw. It usually appears by the second or third year of life and undergoes involution during the puberty. It is a condition occurring in individuals or in single families. Treatment is unnecessary unless functional or emotional disturbances develop. The article also describes a twelve-year-old male patient.
