Abstract

Climate change affects the dynamic changes of forest fire. This paper aims to analyze the influence of climate on forest fire in Hunan province by using multiple linear regression and correlation analysis. The results showed that the average affected area of forest and forest loss caused by forest fire showed a significant linear relationship with climate and could be expressed by multiple regression equation. According to the meteorological factors, we can forecast the trend of forest fire development in most areas of Hunan. The formation of a large number of fuel was caused by ice crystal pressure off forests during special freezing climate, which led to remarkably increasing occurrence of forest fire. The correlation coefficient between the thickness of ice during freezing disaster and the frequency of forest fire in March after disaster reached 0.798 with significant correlation. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
