Abstract

Rosacea is a common dermatosis affecting 10% to 20% of the middle-aged population, especially among fair-skinned subjects. Rosacea primarily involves the cutaneous microcirculation of the central part of the face. Several etiologic factors and pathogenetic mechanisms have been proposed. Age and exposure to environmental factors, in particular ultraviolet light, are probably causing initial dermal modification in susceptible individuals.
