Abstract

This paper examined Nigeria’s Population Policies of 1988 and 2004. It pinpointed on the policies issues, challenges and prospects. It explained the achievements and weaknesses of the policies, the reasons for the failures in implementation and the way forward for Nigeria to achieve even and sustainable development through a workable population policy, using demographic components; like fertility, mortality and migration as centre of reference.
