Abstract

Day by day, the automotive sector in Ecuador is looking for ways to incorporate electronic collaboration tools (eCollaboration) into their planning processes. There is a belief, in general, that good organizational performance is due to investments in eCollaboration technologies. Under this point of view, there is little local empirical research that supports assumptions about the factors that determine effectiveness in the IT organization performance. As consequence, this study analyzes the criteria of a framework that has been provided by researchers in eCollaboration. This grid based on time/space collaboration, was developed at the beginning of the 1990s and classified as valid up to today. A descriptive, correlational and regression research was carried out to test the hypothesis based on 2016 data provided by 47 companies in the automotive sector. The results finally show that Income and Continuous Task have a simple marginally significant relationship and that Remote Interactions have the most important influence within the group of variables. In addition, there is an important interpretation of the main findings that are incorporated to the mentioned data through conclusions and recommendations for future work.
