Abstract

Color quantization is a basic and important technology in digital image processing. Through research on the color quantization algorithm based on segmentation and clustering, this paper proposes a new color quantization algorithm based on K-means clustering. Firstly, classify the pixel of image according to hue. Then, based on K-means clustering do color quantization processing for each sub-class. Through compared with the commonly quantization algorithm, the quantization effect and execution time of the proposed algorithm both have better performance. © 2011 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
